Result

Input stays in this browser. Only Open email app hands the URI to your configured mail handler.

Options

Enter recipients or a mailto link.

When a contact link has several recipients or a prefilled message, a mailto link generator saves you from hand-encoding every ampersand and line break. This page also checks the shape of each address before offering a link.

A name such as Ada <ada@example.com> is useful while reviewing a list, but a mailto URI contains only the address. Paste a published link into Parse mode to see what its recipient and message fields actually say.

Why use this mailto link generator?

Keep the human-facing list separate from the URI that a mail client receives.

Names stay visible, addresses go into the link

The mailto link generator accepts a simple display name alongside each address, reports the recognized recipients, and removes the name from the URI path. That avoids a common malformed-link mistake.

A contact card with a name and email address becomes a link containing only the address.

Read a link back into fields

Switch to Parse mode to decode To, Cc, Bcc, subject and body from an existing URI. A malformed percent escape or repeated field is reported instead of silently carried into a fresh result.

A mailto link splits into recipient, copy, subject and multiline body sections.

Make the encoded result match your draft

01

Separate recipients deliberately

Enter To, Cc or Bcc addresses with commas, semicolons or new lines. Output always uses commas; a quoted display name may contain a comma without splitting the address.

02

Inspect the encoded values

Subject and body are entered as ordinary text. The mailto link generator encodes reserved characters and converts body line breaks to CRLF before making the URL and escaped HTML href.

03

Check before opening an app

Copy the URI or HTML only while the result is current. Load the built URL into Parse mode to review it; opening your email app is a separate explicit action and does not send a message.

Address checks and two useful outputs

Recipient syntax profile

This email address validator checks common ASCII local parts, internationalized domains, length and each address in a list. It does not query a mailbox.

URL and HTML

This email link builder produces a mailto URL and an HTML anchor. Multiple recipients, Cc, Bcc, subject and body are encoded for their proper positions.

Round-trip inspection

Paste an existing mailto URL into Parse mode, or load the latest generated link without copying it. The decoded fields reveal what was preserved.

What the link can and cannot establish

Syntax is not delivery
A successful address check does not prove a mailbox exists. No MX lookup, SMTP connection or verification email is made.
Display names are not URI recipients
Simple Name <address> input is accepted for review, but only the addr-spec is placed in the URI. Quoted local parts and internationalized local parts are outside this common-address profile.
Bcc is public in source
Bcc may be hidden from recipients of a sent message, but the Bcc address remains visible in a published mailto URI or HTML source.
Client behavior varies
A mailto URL opens a draft only when the device has a handler. Attachments and HTML message bodies are not supported; long links may be truncated by some clients.
Bounded, explicit fields
Only To, Cc, Bcc, subject and body are parsed. Duplicate or unknown query fields fail; at most 100 recipients, 4,000 body characters and an 8,192-character URI are accepted.

mailto link generator questions

How do I add subject and body to a mailto link?

Type subject and body as ordinary text. The generator percent-encodes reserved characters and uses a single subject= and body= query pair.

How do I add multiple recipients, cc, or bcc?

Separate To addresses by commas or lines; put copies in Cc and Bcc. The generated URI joins addresses with commas and retains each group in its own field.

Why doesn't my mailto link work for users without an email client?

The link asks the user’s configured handler to open a draft. If none is configured, this site cannot choose or install an email client.

Will the body parameter work in Gmail web?

Some webmail handlers accept mailto links and some clients handle long bodies differently. Test the actual destination; this tool does not promise Gmail-specific behavior.

Can I prevent the mailto link from being scraped by spam bots?

No. A public mailto URI exposes addresses to anyone who reads page source, including scrapers. Bcc inside the URI is not a privacy barrier.
